COMMUNIST PARTY OF KAMPUCHEA
As the only political party in Democratic Kampuchea, the Communist Party of Kampuchea (CPK) was the predominant decision-making body. Its trusted members oversaw all civilian and military matters in the country.
DEMOCRATIC KAMPUCHEA GOVERNMENT
The 'government' administration of Democratic Kampuchea was in reality a facade of the CPK. 'Executive' branch members took directions from the Party's Standing Committee, and no functioning judicial system or legislative branch existed.
REVOLUTIONARY ARMY OF KAMPUCHEA
The Revolutionary Army of Kampuchea (RAK) was an army of the CPK rather than the state. The Party's Military Committee oversaw all military and security affairs in Democratic Kampuchea.
ZONE LEADERSHIP
The CPK's most trusted members administered the country as zone secretaries with absolute control and surveillance over the Cambodian population.
